History

Origin:Teaching runs in our blood. We are grateful to our parents and grandparents for having passed on their noble quality of teaching into us. Our grandfather Late Mr. Vincent Gonsalves taught Marathi and Hindi to students during the sixties. He was also a dedicated catechist for many years and was often called upon by the late Rev. Fr. Peter Pereira to read official letters written in one of the old scripts of Marathi language (mori language). Even our father the Late Mr. Domnic Vincent Gonsalves conducted private tuitions from our residence for many years and was instrumental in laying the foundation of Kennedy’s Classes. It was one fine day in the month of May, 1983, when he put up the first sign board of ‘Kennedy’s Classes’ at our residence and thus Kennedy’s Classes came into existence. He gave us the message “THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR HARD WORK”. From then onwards this motto has been preached and practised to perfection by each and every of my family members as well as my staff. Today, Kennedy’s Classes is an institution engaged in coaching students from Std. V to Std. XII and is successful in churning out good results year after year.

Kennedy’s Classes had a humble beginning. The hall room of our residential house served as its first class room. As the number of students went on increasing, a need was felt to purchase new premises. At the first available opportunity in 1988, a part of House No. 229, Kurla Village was purchased by our father. It was our first official classroom. This was a major achievement for us. Very soon, we were encouraged into purchasing the premises at the present address situated at House No. 155/ 156, Kurla Village by our parents. It was beyond our means to purchase the said premises. But our mother offered to sell and mortgage part of her jewellery for the said purpose . Thus, it was due to the sacrifice of our mother that Kennedy’s Classes could go ahead with its expansion plan. I again thank God for giving us an opportunity to have a work place just next to our residence. Very soon in 1995, a much bigger premise situated at House No. 163, Christian Village, became a part and parcel of Kennedy’s Classes. This premise is now used exclusively for coaching students of Std. X and is fully air-conditioned. Though we had classrooms, we had a make-shift office at our residence (House No.167). In 1998, the initiative to purchase another premise in the building bearing House No. 155/ 156. was again taken by our father, eventually giving Kennedy’s Classes its much needed office.

Today we owe all our success to our beloved parents. I can proudly say that Kennedy’s Classes is the brainchild of our father. It was his vision and his guidance which has helped us to go on and on for the past so many years. Though he is not with us physically today, but we do feel that he is helping us spiritually by asking our dear Lord Jesus to bless us continuously.
